The Sea Watch Foundation is a marine conservation charity. We are registered in England and Wales as a limited liability company under number 2671621. Our registered office is at Andrews & O’Shea Accountants, XI House, Mill Court, Spindle Way, Crawley, West Sussex RH10 1TT, United Kingdom.

For the purpose of the Data Protection Legislation and this notice, we are the ‘data controller’. This means that we are responsible for deciding how we hold and use personal data about you. We are required under the Data Protection Legislation to make available to you the information contained in this statement.

  • You adopt a dolphin and/or request a regular newsletter
  • You purchase merchandise from us as part of our fund raising activities

  • You apply to become a volunteer or an intern and act as a volunteer or intern
  • You contact us by email, telephone, post or social media
  • From third parties and/or publicly available sources

The information we hold about you may include some or all of the following:

  • Details of contacts we have had with you in relation to Adopt a Dolphin
  • Details of any volunteer activities you have performed for us
  • Details of any services we may have provided to you, or you to us

  • Information from research, surveys, and fund raising activities
  • Information we receive from other sources, such as publicly available information

 

Website privacy

We may monitor the number of clicks on our website using general available tools. We do not require email addresses from website visitors. If you don’t directly contact us to share your details, we won’t get them from you having visited our website. We use cookies on our website, but you can disable these in your browser if you wish.

 

How we use personal data we hold about you

We may process your personal data for purposes necessary for the performance of the charity and to comply with our legal obligations. This may include processing your personal data where you are an employee, trustee, dolphin adoptee, volunteer, intern, contractor, supplier, donor, research institution or government agency.

We may process your personal data for the purposes of the charity’s legitimate interests provided that those interests do not override any of your own interests, rights and freedoms which require the protection of personal data.

We may process your personal data for certain additional purposes in the interests of the charity with your consent, and in these exceptional circumstances where your consent is required for the processing of your personal data then you have the right to withdraw with immediate effect your consent to processing for such specific purposes.

  • Carry out our obligations arising from agreements entered into between the charity and any employee, trustee, dolphin adoptee, volunteer, intern, contractor, supplier, donor, research institution, government or government agency.

 

  • Provide you with newsletters and other information relating to the charity’s aims including the Adopt a Dolphin scheme, Sightings, the marketing for sale of charity merchandise and all other general fund raising activities.

 

  • Provide you with information which we feel may interest you, provided you have consented to be contacted for such purposes

 

  • Seek your thoughts and opinions on the charity

 

  • Notify you about any changes to our current arrangements or processes

We may also process your personal data without your knowledge or consent, in accordance with this notice, where we are legally required to do so.

 

Data retention

We will only retain your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it is collected.

We will only use your data for the purpose for which we collected it.

Where we need to use your personal data for another reason, other than for the original purpose, we will only use your personal data where that new reason is compatible with the original purpose. Access to the documentation and software is by restricted access and we use the most secure login options available to us.

We will not accept verbal requests by phone.

Please ensure that you provide your name, your home or business address and email address and we will happily do a search and provide details of your data we hold and/or delete such personal data within four weeks.
